Lost in Translation |

Do you remember when weekends used to hold such significance? You would drag your sorry behind to a job you hated on Monday mornings (the song Maniac Monday resignates in your subconsious), you sit down at your desk, or start your day, and already your planning the long awaited WEEKEND bliss. it's funny how you work 5 days in order to be able to enjoy 2. So as you plod thru your week, counting down the days, all of a sudden it hits you that today is Wednesday! halfway thru the week! Oh joy of joys! 2 more agonizing days of torturous proportions and your released from the dreary work scheduale of the week. For 2 days you can do what you want. You can relax, party, go somewhere, chill, whatever. The possibilities are endless!
Now to those working shift work, such as me, the days of the week, as well as the date seems to dwindle in significance after awhile. Any hopes of a "proper' scheduale fliea out the window and you just hold on a pray you'll make it until your next set of 4 days off. Does it matter what day of the week it is? Or if it's a week day or a weekend? Not at all. The only pattern is the 4 on or 4 off, day shift, or night shift. However, I work 4 days to enjoy 4 off. That's the beauty of it.
In other thoughts. Ponder this one... We so often make demands on the mercy of others, thinking we are entitled to it. Is this an attitude that we display with God? How are we in any position to make any kind of demand on the mercy and grace that God gives?

I live for the 4 days off. When Gary's at work I'm always counting down to the days off. :) My jobs, mom/Youth Director, have no days off, so I'm counting down the days until I die. ;)

I know the feeling. When working 10 hour shifts in the Darkness, I was a wraith in pursuit of my 3 days off per week. Lucky for you if you always get the days off together. I've had 3 days off completely separate in a couple of weeks I was scheduled. Boooooo.
