  • Anger Management....Oxymoron?
    Saturday, March 03, 2007

    Some would say I'm an observant type of individual, noted by my previous post (see below), and upon my recent wonderings, I've noticed a lot of anger in the faces of passers by. Not only passers by actually, but many people that I come in contact with everyday; a type of simulated smile that bears no other expression other then the corners of your mouth being pulled in opposite directions, however, the eyes don't follow the same emotion the individual is trying to envoke. Or a fire behind the eyes that is somewhat unexplainable, yet unnerving.
    There seems that so many people have so much to be angry about lately, that the concept of forgiveness, true forgiveness, has been forgotten in the middle of our quest to stay angry, and hold that person accountable for their fault against you. That's right, hold a secret resentment against them that binds you up and holds you back....yeah, that'll teach them!
    So in my browsing of the world wide web within the last few days I've discovered some very thought provoking insights from some famous, (or perhaps infamous) people we've stumbled upon over the years. Check it out and let me know what you think.

    "The thought manifests as the word. The word manifests as the deed. The deed develops into habit. And the habit hardens into character. So watch the thought and its ways with care. And let it spring from love, born out of concern for all beings."
    -- Buddha.

    "Hatred paralyzes life;
    Love releases it.
    Hatred confuses life;
    Love harmonizes it.
    Hatred darkens life;
    Love illumines it.

    Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man's sense of values and his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false and the false with the true. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice. Justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love.

    Anger will never disappear so long as thoughts of resentment are cherished in the mind. Anger will disappear just as soon as thoughts of resentment are forgotten.
    -- Buddha.

    So there it is, just some recent thoughts from your truly. So come on, share the love, ya'll!!

      I think your confusing anger and hate. its okay to be angry at situations like Jesus was from time to time. You just don't want to let it to build out of control and turn into hatred.

      See, now that depends. There's anger at a certain situation or whatever, but then there's the kind of anger that people hang on to, and it has such a grip on them, which, yes, will turn into hatred.
